Inspiration: Black + White

I know, I know...I said I wanted more color in my life. But this was too good not to post. I LOVE the simplicity of the striped top under a slouchy white knit with loose jeans. Perfection.

Inspiration: Streetwear Chic

As a teenager, all of my friends and the girls in my high school were having an Aaliyah moment: baggy clothes, boys denim and fitted baseball caps were a huge trend. I had a phase where I only wore Timberland boots, huge gold hoops, NY Yankee hats and baggy jeans with crop tops. Though it's definitely not a new trend, it's fun to spot these streetwear influences mixed in with designer looks.

Closet Inspiration

I spend way too much time daydreaming about my perfect closet, but that's normal right? My current closet space is limited in my apartment (to two rather small closets), but I'd love to have an airy walk-in space for clothes, shoes (both mine and my love's) and treasures. Ideally, I'd turn a spare room into a closet. I'm attracted to minimal styling, with dark wall, soft lights and masculine touches, and of course lots of shoe  storage. The first of these photos is my favorite, a concept room from Ikea.

Outfit: Spring in January

Am I the only one who's completely over this cold weather? It's frigid in NYC, and it's doesn't help that we're being already bombarded with Spring fashion. I've been coveting light, breezy, resort-worthy pieces, particularly this gorgeous woven cotton top from Opening Ceremony. It's perfect for the early days of Spring under a leather jacket, and then in the warmer months with a cute maxi skirt and flats. I love the texture of this $20 striped maxi paired with scalloped flats that may or may not already be in my Lulu's shopping cart!

Inspiration | Texture

I feel a bit odd posting about what's inspiring this week after the devastating incident in Newtown. I can't even imagine what it's like to lose a child, and I'd be remiss not to acknowledge what happened. On a lighter note, I've been craving nothing but luxe, nubby fabrics to keep me warm lately. I'm a very tactile person, so I love fabrics that are either really soft, or have an interesting texture. Give me plaid, tweed, thick knits(especially men's), anything navajo printed and I'm all in.
