Decor Inspiration: Brooklyn Heights

I only lived in Brooklyn for a couple of years, but I absolutely fell in love with the beautiful brownstones (including the one I called home) in Park Slope and Brooklyn Heights. I still dream about the high ceilings, genuine hardwood floors, and the abundance of natural light in every room. This Brooklyn Heights home photographed by Lily Klein for Rum magazine, is absolutely perfect.

Closet Inspiration

I spend way too much time daydreaming about my perfect closet, but that's normal right? My current closet space is limited in my apartment (to two rather small closets), but I'd love to have an airy walk-in space for clothes, shoes (both mine and my love's) and treasures. Ideally, I'd turn a spare room into a closet. I'm attracted to minimal styling, with dark wall, soft lights and masculine touches, and of course lots of shoe  storage. The first of these photos is my favorite, a concept room from Ikea.

Apartment Inspiration

I've always admired spaces that are minimal, open and airy, with hardwood floors and a touch of black. This incredible space spotted on Dezeen has all of those components, with a wonderful black bedroom and sliding storage space. Below are my favorite snaps of the space, and you can view more images here.

Wide Open Small Spaces

When I first read this NY Times article about the Faires, a lovely young couple living in a 375 square ft box in the Lower East Side, the idea of it made me claustrophobic. But these two creatives (furniture designer, and retail sales rep) have made the ultimate hipster chic haven in a two room closet. The small touches, from the handmade furniture and chalkboard wall, to the lighting that compliments the exposed brick, makes me rethink wanting to live in a large loft.
Totally worthy of a Selby walk-through, no?
