Paying it Forward with Coca-Cola

This is the question that Mutsa, the woman behind Meet Mutsa asks in preparation of her latest fundraising event - a Danceathon being held this weekend in NYC. I came across her site through an e-mail I was forwarded, and was so impressed! I couldn't wait to share it with all you, and I knew Mutsa's story would be perfect to mention in this post. In her own words "I was set on actively doing something to change the state of the HIV pandemic especially in Africa and I wanted to gear other people up to do the same in a creative, fun and refreshing way. The pandemic is often portrayed as a hopeless situation and I don't believe it is at all. It can end.

I raised money and in 2011 I went out to Zambia for four months and trained fifteen young people to be peer educators then they created their own project and did outreach work in neighboring villages; speaking and educating their peers.

I need to get back out to Zambia this year to continue this work. I'm hosting a Danceathon in London and New York on Saturday 9th February I thought this would be a fun way to get people involved and fundraising. Each person who registers pledges to raise £30/$50 in sponsorship then on the 9th they'll dance a mixture of African, Zumba and Street Dance for three hours."

I was so inspired by Mutsa's story, and how something as simple as an afternoon of dancing could make such a huge difference in the lives of so many people across the globe. Mutsa is a wonderful example of "Paying it Forward" and really using your passion to positively affect the world around you.

Because a great mentor can make all the difference, Coca-Cola has teamed up with Magic Johnson, Common and Debra Lee of BET Networks to give four young people the apprenticeship experience of a lifetime. Visit MCR.com/PayItForward to nominate an aspiring youth and help pay it forward to the next generation. You'll also be automatically entered for a chance to win $5,000 for each nomination you make (up to five nominations per person).

How do you Pay it Forward?
